Honouring the First Peoples of This Land

Acknowledging Our Shared History and Future

Taxevity Insurance operates on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. This land is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We humbly honour the Elders—past, present, and emerging—of this land and all Treaty areas across Turtle Island. We recognize that their ancestors cared for this land for countless generations with dignity, resilience, and strength long before Europeans arrived.

Our Reflection

As practitioners of long-term planning, we understand that “ownership” is often temporary, but our relationship with the land is enduring. We are reminded that we are guests here, beneficiaries of treaties that were intended to share the land peacefully.

We are deeply sorry for the disharmony caused by colonization and the enduring impacts of displacement and inequality that persist today. Acknowledging this history is not just a protocol; it is a necessary step toward understanding our own role in building a more equitable future.

Commitment

Our hearts are open to truth and reconciliation. We commit to listening, learning, and operating our practice with respect for the history of the ground beneath our feet.
